SIA CCTV Operator Course
In order to work as a CCTV operator, you need to complete the required SIA CCTV training course by a training provider. Once you have done your training you shall be assessed and after that you would expect your CCTV certificate to arrive from the awarding body within a week’s time. Once you receive the certificate then you can apply for your CCTV licence from SIA.
In order to obtain an SIA licence, you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. This applies to front-line staff only.

CCTV Training Public Space Surveillance (PSS)
The regulatory authority in the United Kingdom as regards to private security is SIA (Security Industry Authority). The SIA has which works as a part of the home office has outlined that certain activities as regards to private security shall be termed as licensable. CCTV PSS is also a licensable activity meaning by that if you want to work as a CCTV operator you shall be required to take a licence from SIA.

The CCTV public space surveillance course is designed for those people who intend to work in the public or private sector as CCTV operators, the CCTV course is a four day course which includes practical assessment at the end.
Learner Entry Requirements
Security operatives are likely in the course of their work to be required to make calls to the emergency services, or need to communicate to resolve conflict.  It is essential that security operatives are able to communicate clearly.
Unit 1 and 2 are assessed by externally set and marked multiple choice exam.
Unit 3 is assessed by Practical Demonstration/Assignment internally assessed and marked and quality assured by the awarding body. A workbook and guidance for the assessment for the practical unit 3 would be given.
